The Yoga Nurse
Steph founded Moonwell Movement after years of working at the intersection of mental health, wellbeing, and organisational change.
As an NMC‑registered mental health nurse, she supported people through emotional distress, trauma, recovery, and transformation — moments where connection, compassion, and safety mattered more than anything else. Having worked across primary and secondary NHS care, caring across all ranges including CAMHS, community mental health and Older Adults, she has spent years supporting people, teams and organisations through some of the most vulnerable and challenging moments of their lives. She understands how the nervous system responds to stress, how people heal, and what compassionate, trauma‑informed care and systems looks like in real life.
As a senior NHS manager at an Integrated Care Board and NHS England South West, coupled with her specialist organisational development and change management skills have developed a deep understanding of how workplaces and organisational ecosystems function — the pressures teams face, the impact of culture, the barriers between organisations and sectors, as well as the importance of authentic connection and compassionate leadership. She has effectively lead large scale, system level change including policy development, workforce wellbeing, and strategic transformation.
Following a life long passion of coaching and teaching, Steph trained as a yoga teacher, coach, holistic therapist and outdoor education leader. Working in a range of settings including the third sector, outdoor education centers, mainstream secondary education as well as SEN and Pupil Referral Units/Inclusion units, these experiences have honed the tools and techniques she uses to meet people where they are and support them to reach whatever goal is important to them. By drawing on approaches and practices to help people reconnect with their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and build self-compassion in ways that feel gentle, accessible, and empowering.
What makes Steph’s approach unique is how she integrates all of this — clinical expertise, organisational insight, somatic practice, coaching, and lived experience — into one cohesive method. She doesn’t rely on buzzwords or trends. She works with people and teams as they are, using evidence-informed practice and embodied wisdom to support meaningful, sustainable change.
Through accessible movement, embodied learning, and evidence‑informed consultancy, Moonwell Movement helps people and systems move from overwhelm to realising possibilities — one breath, one conversation, one cycle at a time.
